Scrapping older photos – Challenge #1 at Counterfeit Kit Challenge

Hello everyone! Today on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge (CKC) is the first challenge of the month but first off, Happy Sandcastle Day!  (It’s a real thing actually, who knew)

To celebrate today being Sandcastle Day – CHALLENGE #1 :Happy Sandcastle Day. It‘s time to be a little nostalgic, be inspired by the most enjoyable childhood activity and create a project featuring sandcastles.

From my “La bohème” kit, I created a layout with older photos of my husband and his brothers at the beach when they were kids.

I guess they didn’t manage to build sandcastles but they did a great job at making the bump. Most importantly – they had fun! 🙂 Honestly, I don’t think I ever succeeded in building any sandcastle in my life.

For my layout, I was inspired to do some stenciling on my dark brown patterned paper since it was so plain. So I grab some white ink and a homemade stencil made with my Cameo.

So it’s really easy to create your own patterned paper or altered a look to a piece of patterned paper for added interest.

I created my title with two different alphabet stickers from my stash. I combined the brown glittered chipboard stickers from Fancy Pants and October Afternoon Mini Market stickers together for my title. It created a more fun look with the dimensional and flat alphabet stickers.  Besides, I didn’t have enough stickers left on my sheet anyway so it was nice to be able to spell out some words. I wrote a short blurp of the day with my Sakura gelly roller pen. It was very nice to write on actually.

I added my gold ribbon as part of the border behind my punched out edge of patterned paper. I just love the glittered brown alphabet stickers of my title.

I added some zig-zag and straight stitching to the layout for interest.

It was a lot of fun creating this layout with my kit. I was extremely pleased that I managed to add some fun techniques in this layout as well. I hope you will join us with this fun  CHALLENGE #1 :Happy Sandcastle Day and create a project featuring sandcastles. Hope over to Counterfeit Kit Challenge for more inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy crafting!

  1. I am so delighted that you detail your process, it encourages me that I could make an equally stunning page with just attention to some of the details! I love how much that subtle gold ribbon adds to the punched paper edge & the glitter letters are perfection. What a sweet throwback photo!

  2. There’s so much more to discover on this layout that one can notice at first glance! The beautiful stencilling, the mist splatting, the mix of fonts to make the title, the stitching – all beautiful and together making a lovely lovely page. So happy that you joined us this month!
