Stamping and scrapbooking

Hello and Happy Easter! Today I have another scrapbook layout to share with you, it’s a wedding layout. I used a floral layering stamp set to create flowers on this layout; it’s a lot fun and the effect was pretty cool.

Stamping and scrapbooking

My layout was inspired by Altenew Sketch Challenge #1 and its color scheme.

Altenew-2017-March-Sketch-Challenge-Ashley

I used Altenew Majestic Bloom stamp and die set to create the flowers and leaves. I love how layering stamps makes the image so realistic and pretty. For the leaves, I only used two of the layers and skipped the solid leaf stamp.

For the flowers, I stamped with Altenew inks – Frosty Pink, Cotton Candy, Coral Berry and the outline image with Ruby Red. I started stamping with the solid image first then the layers and stamped the outline stamp last because I wanted the flowers to have more definition. For the leaves, I stamped with Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades.

Then I die cut all the flowers and leaves and adhered them like the arrangement of the circles in the sketch. I added two doilies as the starting point of my layout. I added some gold thread behind the flowers and gold strip to frame the layout for extra interest and texture. I used some sentiments from the Label Love stamp set for my title and added some Tim Holtz word stickers as well. Then I finished off with some gold sequins. I love the elegance of the gold.

This was really a fun layout to make. I love how stamps can be used to make the focal point or embellishments for a project. That’s it for today! Thanks for stopping and Happy crafting!

XOXO Scrapbook Layout for Sketch N Scrap Sketch Layout #127

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing a scrapbook layout on Sketch N Scrap. It’s another summer photo from last year. I am trying to finish scrapping my summer photos from last year, so you may see similar photos from the same event when I share my layouts. I don’t always scrap my everyday. I usually scrap photos of places I have been or events.

Today’s layout is inspired by the sketch that Heather designed on Sketch N Scrap.

XOXO scrapbook layout

I liked how the layout turned out. Somehow, the colors I used are very “masculine”  ie browns and greens which is unusual  from my bright colors of pinks and reds and yellows.

For this layout – I did keep to my challenge of using “a tool & a supply”. On my white cardstock, I used the Tim Holtz Distress Marker Spritzer with a brown sharpie and spritzed some ink in the background. I used my Cameo to cut the cutfile (for free). Then I used my favorite punch to punch my hearts. (such an accomplishment I tell you, by using these 3 tools lol) I had the starfish ribbon for like forever, and I thought it would be fun for this layout.

Hope you can see the ink spritz close up pics.

This was a fun layout to make and being able to play with the marker spritzer tool was a lot of fun! You can use lots of different markers with it too. It’s a good alternative if you don’t want a wet spray medium for your layout.

That’s it for today! Hop over to Sketch N Scrap and check out what the other design team members had created! We would love for you to join us for our sketch challenges! News update: It’s will be an exciting month in May as Sketch N Scrap celebrates its FIFTH birthday with lots of sketches, inspiration and prizes and most importantly, lots of FUN!

Sketch N Scrap Sketch Layout #126 (Scrapping with limited color scheme and supply)

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing a scrapbook layout with you – I haven’t been crafting for like ~ 3 months due to many reasons but I won’t bore you with details but most importantly I am back! I really want to say thank you to those who kept following my blog and on my social media even though I was MIA for while!

I did reorganized my craft supplies and decided to challenge myself whenever I make a card or layout – whether it’s techniques or using certain tool or supply in my stash. That way, I feel my “investment” in this hobby is much more worth it (and more fun) instead of just hoarding everything. I just kept it simple (so that I will do it), the main challenge is to use “a tool and a supply” (can be more). Tools such as my manual die cutting machine and dies, electric cutting machine, punches, decorative scissors, FUSE tool, stencils,  stamps, etc (things that can be used over and over again). Supply such as twine, embroidery floss, threads, washi tape, embossing powders, glitter, markers, paints and other art mediums, etc (things that can run out of, but it never seemed that way for me, they seem to last forever lol)

The layout I am sharing with you today is inspired by the sketch designed by Lisa on Sketch N Scrap. It’s such a fun sketch and versatile.

The patterned papers were taken from my scrap pile since I scrap different photos from the same event before. I kept things simple and I am only using pinks and purples for this one photo. For my embellishments, I used my challenge of “a tool and a supply” where I used a flower and heart punch and layered on top of my purple twine.

That’s it for today! Hop over to Sketch N Scrap and check out what the other design team members had created! We would love for you to join us for our sketch challenges! Oh and in May, it’s an exciting month as Sketch N Scrap celebrates its FIFTH birthday with lots of sketches, inspiration and prizes and most importantly, lots of FUN!

It’s so nice to be crafting again and I hope you will join me in this challenge of using “a tool and a supply” ( I probably should come up with a better name but…..) Anyways, I hope I had inspired you and you will create something beautiful with this sketch and share with us. Thanks for stopping by and Happy crafting!

‘Noel’ Scrapbook Layout

It’s almost Christmas time – how exciting! Today I have a scrapbook layout to share with you with Sketch N Scrap layout sketch.

The sketch was designed by Mandy on Sketch N Scrap:dec-15th-sns

Here is my layout:

Noel Scrapbook Layout

The beauty of winter is quite memorable! I just scrap a single 4×6 landscape photo instead of 3 photos. I wanted my title and embellishment in silver so I made my own since I didn’t have anything silver in my stash. I diecut the title and some stars with my Cameo and heat embossed them with silver embossing powder. Then I added some silver splatters with silver metallic watercolors.

Fall Scrapbook Layout

Hello! Today I want to share a fall-themed scrapbook layout inspired by Sketch N Scrap. On a fall hike, I took pictures of these railroad bridges. I love these bridges – I think they are called trestle bridges. The frames just look really pretty and also absolutely gorgeous with the pretty colors of fall leaves!

Scrapbooking with autumn colours

Hello! Today I have some pretty exciting news to share – I had the opportunity to be the guest artist on Shimelle’s blog.

I created a scrapbook layout with the third challenge 03: Scrapbook with autumnal colours.

Here is a sneak close up shots where I actually included real leaves I collected.

‘The Yellow Door’ Scrapbook Layout

Hello! It’s November already. I have a scrapbook layout to share today inspired by a layout sketch. The sketch was designed by Lisa on Sketch  N Scrap.

nov-1st

For my layout, I flipped the sketch and was inspired by the ‘longish title’ for my photo.

"Yellow Door" long title diecut scrapbook layout

It was a photo taken at the ‘yellow door’ at the lavender farm which was a hot spot for photos. On the header, there was a lovely quote “Walk through the door, your worries behind you, your joys are ahead”. So I diecut the quote with my Cameo with different fonts. I backed it with pink striped paper and went over it with a black pen to highlight the title better.

"Yellow Door" long title diecut scrapbook layout

After I layered the photo with patterned papers, I added some yellow paint splatters. I wanted to add some black since I went over the title with the black pen, so I stamped with a splatter stamp with black ink. Then I added a subtitle below the photo with different alphabet stickersand also the big yellow puffy alphabet stickers to emphasize the door. I also added some fun embellishments with adventure/travel theme from Shimelle Go Now Go collection.

I added the acetate pieces with gold staples for more fun.

It was a fun sketch for my fun layout! Hop over to the Sketch N Scrap blog for more inspiration and play along with our sketches! We would love to see your creations.

“Photo ready” Scrapbook Layout

Hello! Today I want to share a scrapbook layout inspired by the layout sketch on Sketch N Scrap. The sketch is designed  by Mandy –

oct-15th-sns

I created the layout with a black and white photo with really colourful patterned papers.

photo ready scrapbook layout

I coloured the fabric thickers with gelatos to create an ombre effect by mixing peach & mango colours together. I chose those colours that would match my floral patterned paper from Dear Lizzy. I did add white paint to the floral paper as a base for thickers to pop up more.

The fabric thickers came frayed slightly but I think it adds character and texture. But I love that I can coloured it to any colours that I want to match my layouts.

A simple life – scrapbook layout

Hello! I realised I didn’t get to blog about some of the layouts I created. Sometimes I managed to share in my Instagram or Facebook. But I try.. anyways..

Today I wanted to share a layout using some diecuts and stitching inspired by a sketch on Stuck?! Sketches. It’s the September 1st 2016 sketch –

Stuck Sketches September 1st 2016

I created this fun colorful ‘mixed media layout’ – well  maybe not mixed media if you consider splatters lol

mixed media scrapbook layout - the simple life

I managed to add some stamping to the background (Heidi Swapp Script background stamp). I always feel some sense of accomplishment if I use a stamp on a layout. Really.

splatters and stamps on scrapbook layout

After the patterned papers were adhered, I machine stitched the borders for interest.  Then I diecut the wreath from Clique Kits (it was a free cutfile) and it’s so pretty! I backed the leaves with some scraps from Dear Lizzy Documentary collection that was in the olive green color. So I mixed up some olive green splatters from my acrylic inks and splatter away.  Then I found diecuts from Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills had some pretty fun diecuts and puffy stickers that matched my color scheme pretty well. I also added the puffy hearts from Shimelle collection.

I didn’t add any journaling, so I added the Tim Holtz stickers to express some of my emotions. The small talk sticker book from Tim Holtz is really fun and has a lot of sayings I want to convey in my layouts.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy crafting!

Sketch N Scrap Layout Sketch #113

Hello! Today I have another layout to share on Sketch N Scrap. My layout was inspired by this fun sketch designed by Lisa on Sketch N Scrap.

sept 15th SNS

I created this layout with lots of diecut words instead of journaling. spelunking scrapbook layoutCave exploration is indeed a super fun adventure. We went to Warsaw Caves and it was truly an experience. My tip is don’t forget the headlamps! We used flashlights but really it would be better to have your hands free holding the walls as you climb the caves or as you crawl through tiny passageways.

Anyways, for my layout, I diecut the words with my Cameo like captions for my experience.
