Hello everyone! It’s time for August Counterfeit Kit Challenge (CKC) Members Blog Hop. You must have arrived from Clair‘s blog!
The challenges this month are:
Challenge #1: Blank Canvas: Make white the base for your project
Challenge #2: Gift-wrap Inspired: Take a design element from gift-wrap and get creative
Challenge #3: “Friends”: Use the word “Friends as inspiration
For today’s post, I want to share a few layouts I created with my August kit. The first layout I want to share is inspired by Challenge #3 – “Friends”
I used a group photo of my friends when we went hiking. I realized whenever I scrapbook a photo of a group of friends, naturally I just entitled it “Friends”. I used some of the cut-outs from Project Life cards as embellishments. For my layout I used a sketch from Stuck Sketches. I just love using sequins to embellish the page.
Then I flipped the sketch and created another layout. I incorporated Challenge #1 and Challenge #3. I wanted to document a project I helped a friend made. Well I only helped her cut black paper strips to make the seaweed but she made the entire thing by herself. She made this awesome tray of diaper sushi platter as a baby shower gift instead of the traditional diaper cake. Super creative! I don’t usually get many chances to craft with friends so I must document this time.
These days I try to challenge myself to create layouts inspired by sketches. If I use one sketch for a layout, then with the same sketch try to create another layout by flipping the sketch. So far I think it’s working really well for me. I got few more layouts done and able to think creatively on using my supplies.
Here are some other layouts I created with my August kit.
Layout inspired by challenge #1; I started the layout by adding some splatters with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink on my white canvas. Then I added the large photo corners out of the map patterned paper and mounted the white page on the green motif patterned paper. For my embellishments, I colored my camera wood veneer with the same ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder for a gloss finish. I also added the circle embellishents that I made from the Project Life card.
This was a fun layout to make. It’s one of those patterned paper already printed with designs on the top and bottom arch. It was an oval shape in the center, so I use a tool – the oval curvy cutter from EK Success and cut some ovals out to mat my oval photo. I use thickers to spell out Rainbows – to document it as one of my favorite things. Again here I embellished the layout with punched outs and cut apart from Project Life cards.
I really enjoyed making DIY embellishments from Project Life cards. Use punches, dies or fussy cut some of the designs on the cards, not to forget stamps, heat embossing – definitely a good way to use up those cards. I hope you will give these challenges a try when you make your own layouts! Thanks for stopping by and Happy crafting!
Keep on hopping to see great inspirations from the members ! Next on the list is Kelly. Here is a full list of the blog hop order if you got lost along the way.

Wow. Some fantastic layouts using the challenges – and lots of memories scrapped. I love the idea of using one sketch at a time to create multiple layouts – must try that!

You have an eye for color! This rich red for the first layout really enhances your photo, and I am in love with the color palette of the second layout (the other ones are very beautiful too!)

I like the way you flipped that sketch around to get two very different layouts. I need to remember to do that – I usually just use a sketch and move on to the next layout.
