‘Love’ Scrapbook layout

Hello! I haven’t post much this month as it’s getting busier around here in the summer. Today I have a scrapbook layout to share with you with Sketch N Scrap layout sketch. It’s a lovely sketch designed by Heather.

SNS june 15th Sketch layout

For my layout,  I flipped the sketch horizontally because my photo’s focal point was on the right side.

I started with splattering some watercolor droplets that matched my papers on my white cardstock. I used supplies from the Altenew Reflection Scrapbook Kit. I love fussy cutting the flowers from the patterned paper as embellishments. I added the rose gold alphabet thickers as my title to my layout. Honestly, I really need to be more creative with my title lol

“Love”- travel Scrapbook Layout

Hello everyone! I want to share a layout that involves again lots of stamping and detailed cutting of those stamped images.

Few years ago my husband and I traveled to Bali and had a photo shoot. The photographer used a different lens that captured this photo – it made us look like we were standing on top on the world. It was so pretty and pretty cool!

"Love" travel Scrapbook layout

I used a free cutfile from Paper Issues and cut out the love script heart with my Cameo. I used some papers and embellishments from Altenew Reflection Scrapbooking Kit. I would say I had a blast stamping all those flowers and leaves and then cut them out with my scissors. I probably could have used my PicScan to cut them out but I was worried I might ruined them if I made a mistake with the cutlines.  The flowers are from Altenew Beautiful Day and Garden Treasure stamp sets.

Sketch N Scrap Layout Sketch #114

Hello! It’s the first of the month of October, it’s so nice to feel the autumn air! Today I have a layout to share inspired by a sketch designed by Heather on Sketch N Scrap.

Sketch #114

1st-oct Sketch N Scrap

I created this layout with photos  of the lavender farm.

Beautiful lavender scrapbook layout

I actually wrote a lot of journaling for this layout – mostly about what I love about lavender and what you can use it for.  I also created a hidden journaling on a tag to write more of my experience on the farm. I took a piece of rectangle patterned paper with a heart on it, I put a strip of the bottom and it holds my tag really well.

hidden journaling scrapbook layout

I added some diecuts from Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills and since the colors were the olive green, I mixed up some paint splatters that match and splatter away and colored my heart to add color.

I added some hand stitching, it’s actually a metallic purple thread but somehow it was a little thin so I couldn’t thread it to my sewing machine. It breaks really easy so that’s why I need to hand stitch it.

I hope you will stop by Sketch N Scrap blog and check out what the other design team members created! Today is also World Card Making Day, so check out the Sketch N Scrap Facebook for fun challenges and inspiration.

‘Bubbles’ Wedding Scrapbook Layout

Hello everyone! Today I have another wedding scrapbook layout to share. It’s a very simple layout and absolutely quick to put together.

The layout is inspired by a sketch on Scrapbook Challenges.

Sketch 479 April 18

My layout-

Bubbles Wedding Scrapbook layout

Supplies: Cardstock: American Crafts Textured   Patterned Paper: Dear Lizzy Serendipity, Tab- Illustrated Faith   Washi Tape: Recollections   Stickers: American Crafts Black Chalkboard     Tool: EK Success Corner Adorner – Interlaced    Paint: DecoArt Bright Yellow, Tutti Frutti Pink

Bubbles Wedding Scrapbook layout

I considered myself the minimalist when I scrapbook – but when I made this layout I really did not use much of my supplies. I used my 2″ wide washi tape on a scrapbook layout instead of patterned paper. Because the washi tape is see through, and I wanted more colors in the background so I painted diagonal lines with acrylic paint first before putting down the washi tape. Then I layered some stars I had leftover from another project with washi tape as well. I do not have any photo corners so I made a photo mat with photo corners with a punch.

It does have a lot of white space than my usual layouts but I feel it’s needed because of the bright colors. I am pretty contented with how it turned out.  It was definitely one of the fastest layout I have ever made since I am a slow scrapper. Thankfully I have the sketch to help me out! 🙂

I hope you will give this sketch a try and hop on over to Scrapbook Challenges for more inspiration! Thanks for stopping by and Happy crafting!

Sketch N Scrap Throwback Thursday #3

Hello everyone – It’s Throwback Thursday Layout Sketch today on the Sketch N Scrap blog.

For today’s sketch, I chose this sketch from 2014 designed by Lisa.

march 17 Throwback thursday Sketch N Scrap

I saw the polka dots with the splatters and I had inspiration for my layout so I created a mixed media wedding layout.

Crushing - Smile Gold Wedding layout

For the wedding photoshoot, I brought this large frame as prop. It was pretty fun with us taking pictures with this large frame. My wedding party love making faces and fun poses with the frame.

This layout is a little bit overloaded with the gold and so much fun to make. But I love all the gold with the pinks. I started with Stratmore mixed media paper 11’x11′. Then I used a polka dot stencil and added some homemade texture paste. Then I misted some pink mist I DIYed out of acrylic paint with a hearts stencil. I also brushed some gold glitter paint on the layout randomly as well. I feel it’s less messy than real glitter. I adhered the photos and added some gold flower washi tape as if it was held on by the tape. I made the tab effect on the photo mat with my envelope punch board. Finally, I angled my mixed media paper before adhering it to my gold background paper for some added interest.

Reflection Scrapbook Layout

I have another layout to share. It is another one of those blurry photos at the aquarium. It is a cute picture I took with a mirror that was on the wall and the reflection is flipped upside down. Super funny and interesting! Everyone was looking at the aqua-life but I was happily looking at the mirror on the side! LOL

I heart reflection scrapbook layout with sequins

I added some hand stitching to the top and bottom of the page using embroidery floss. I used my stitch wheel for the first time and it was an interesting experience. Some parts of the paper did tear as I was using it so definitely need some practice using it. But it turned out not too bad. 🙂

This layout was inspired by a sketch over at Sketch~N~Scrap.

Here are some close ups: I love adding sequins to my layouts; and here I outlined the heart.

“Pouting already” Wedding Scrapbook Layout

Welcome to another layout share to my wedding scrapbook album! Today I would like to share this layout;

Poutin already Scrapbook layout

I made this layout inspired by a sketch over at  Sketch~N~Scrap

The challenge Twistback Thursday Sketch #5 was the “The Great Outdoors”. I immediately thought of my wedding photos taken at the park. We had so much fun taking crazy and fun photos. That day, the weather was perfect for taking wedding photos too.

I like to share a little bit of story behind the photos in each my layout share. These series of pictures in the layout, honestly I don’t really remember what the conversation I had with my husband that I had such expressions. But I just found it too funny. Who would have a photo of the bride pouting?! I definitely need to scrapbook it. I think I vaguely remembered that my photographer asked us to talk about something funny so we can have more natural photos maybe, and most likely my husband would have teased me with something t-e-r-r-i-b-l-e like he always do. I am just kidding, we always tease each other for fun, hence I had a picture of me giggling crazily. Just loved the progression of the photos my photographer took.

Supplies used –

  • Most of the papers from Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Flea Market
  • Paper used to diecut the flowers from Craft Smith Typecraft collection
  • Crate paper Maggie Holmes Confetti Die
  • Basic Grey Lemonade alphabet stickers

I like to mix paper collections from different manufacturers because I buy things here and there at different times. I usually pick a color scheme and find colors that match. For example, in this layout, I chose red/pink/green. I spray-misted my white background with lime green mist, so it would the whole layout would blend in better. I really like embellishing my layouts with just paper; it is a great way to use up some of the papers in my stash. Here are some close up photos of the embellishments.

“Lovely Flowers” Wedding Scrapbook Layout

Hello, welcome to my blog for another wedding layout share. My layout today is a little different. I have not done this before on a layout. If you read my previous post, I shared about how I LOVED shaker cards, well I decided to add my shaker pouch to my layout. I have seen lots of examples of people adding sequins and shaker pocket to their layouts and I really wanted to try it.

shaker scrapbook layout - Lovely flowers

The title of my page is ” Lovely Flowers”. The pictures were taken when my husband came after successfully “passed” the “doorgames”. For those unfamiliar with Chinese weddings, let me try to briefly explain what I meant. As the tradition goes, the groom is not suppose to see the bride the night before the wedding, so the bride would be in her parents’ house. On the morning of the wedding day, the groom would go to her house to pick her up and also bring along the wedding bouquet. Before the groom is let inside to see the bride, he will have to pass through a series of games or I would say challenges, set up for him and his groomsmen by the bridesmaids. These games/challenges are meant to prove his love for the bride, but they are mostly meant for fun and to embarrass the groom and the groomsmen. I will not get into details with that…. After the bridesmaids are satisfied with the way he had passed the challenges, he has to give a “red packet” to the bridesmaid then he will be allowed to enter to the room where the bride is waiting. ( Yes, the bride had no idea what is going on outside if you are wondering) It is interesting how an old tradition of picking the bride up has evolved to today’s tradition. Lots of laughter and it will be remembered forever with the evidence of the wedding video.

So, back to my scrapbook layout; my flowers! I actually handmade my bouquet, matron of honor’s bouquet and the toss bouquet, all out of scrapbook paper. Like I said, I really love paper, and I really had a fresh flower-less wedding. My centerpieces’ flowers were all handmade out of paper too. A friend of mine helped me “poof-up” my bouquet with more paper flowers and helped me with the beautiful “flowy” ribbons. That is the story I want to tell in my layout.

If you missed my previous post where I shared about my Chinese wedding dress, or what my matron of honor’s bouquet looked like, you can check it here.

Briefly how I made my layout:

  1.  I started with My Mind’s Eye 12″x12″ yellow polka dot paper as the background. Then I took a 8″x10″ musical paper from Crate Paper Flea Market collection and used my American Crafts Knockout notebook edger punch for the side.
  2. I took a strip of 1.5″ black and cream XOXO paper as a horizontal border where my pictures are more grounded. I added the gold weave ribbon also as a horizontal border. This is the same exact ribbon I had leftover from when I was making the bouquet.
  3. I used my Walnut Hollow Hotmarks tool to make the shaker pouches. I used my Spellbinders Classic Heart dies and a large heart-shaped cookie cutter to be the frame to my shaker pouches. I used some old packaging as the pouches.
  4. I used the We r Memory Keepers Sew Easy Script template again for the handstitched “Lovely” and the balck alphabets stickers are from Doodlebug design Shin-Dig.
  5. I added some wood veneers and sequins in clusters in a visual triangle. I also added my DIY epoxy stickers/DIY flairs.
  6. I also added strips of the same papers I used to the corners with a scallop heart border using my American Crafts Knockout hearts border punch, just to add the embellishments in a clusters of three and the same repetition of elements for balance and design.

I am really glad to add the exact ribbon I used for the bouquet to this layout as a piece of memorabilia. The shaker pouches are just so fun. A perfect way to add to the documentation of the story of the page. Honestly, it was not perfect as it does have some ragged edges; but since it is handmade, it IS acceptable. lol I probably need some more practice. But for now, I am very happy to have a scrapbook layout that shakes! I filled the pouches with flower-shaped sequins which I love and fits the title of my page today!

Here are some more close up pictures.

Tips: In hindsight, I probably would not use Glossy Accents to adhere these pouches because the adhesive will show through. Multi Matte medium may be a better alternative.

I made this layout for a challenge on Scrap Out Stash E-M-B-O-S-S. Check out their blog for more inspiration

Bubbles Floating Wedding Scrapbook Layout

I have another wedding scrapbook layout to share today. I diecut my flowers again with the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Confetti die. I really do not want to sound like a broken record, but I really do love the flowers. (No, Crate Paper did not pay me for advertising their product, lol) I feel it really enhances the “pretty-ness” of my layout.

Here is my layout:

love today: bubbles scrapbook layout

This picture was taken in a park. I told my husband we must have bubbles in some of our wedding pictures. I personally LOVE bubbles. You can get pretty big bubbles from these bubble wands . It reminds me of my happy and fun childhood. I loved seeing the beautiful rainbow colors reflected in the floating bubbles, romantic feelings, so lovey and dreamy……. and to add to the fun, I got these cute big glasses from Michaels. My husband wore the pink and I wore the blue, just to switch up the typical boy/girl colors.

My inspiration for this layout came from a sketch from Scrap Our Stash; I will also enter this layout to the Sketch Challenge #26. Sketch Challenge #26 - Add Handmade Flowers

The circles just reminded me of my floating bubbles. Check out their blog for more inspiration.

Supplies used:

  1. Most of the papers are from Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Flea Market
  2. Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Confetti Die
  3. Martha Stewart Doilies Stamp Set
  4. Kaisercraft Polaroid Die
  5. We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Script Template
  6. American Crafts Thickers Mosaic
  7. American Crafts Thickers: Amy Tangerine – Muse

On the background paper ( loved the hearts bokeh effect paper), I stamped the page with the different doilies stamp inspired by the circles from the sketch. Check out the DIY round epoxy stickers. I loved how DIY stickers can be customized however you like.

The sketch challenge did require to add handmade flowers. I think I might have went overboard with the flowers, but I still love it! I did add a smaller cluster of the flowers on the bottom left, just to balance out the layout and forming more of a visual triangle in a page design. Instead of journaling strips; I added strips of emotions. More like how I felt at the moment when the picture was taken.

I diecut the Love polaroid diecut and also added the hand-stitched Today to my photo mat. It really makes stitching so much easier with a template. I colored my title ‘bubbles’ with a black sharpie to have some contrast in my layout since the original color of the thickers was white. I liked how the entire page had different texture and dimension from the stickers, the pop up flower diecuts and stitching.

Here are some close up pictures:

So happy to have another wedding scrapbook page done! I think it turn out not too bad! lol Thanks for stopping by, Happy crafting.

Scrapbook Layout #1 share: Leaving on a Jet Plane

I hope all of you scrapbookers had a blast crafting during “National Scrapbooking Day” over the weekend.

Leaving on a Jet plane scrapbook layout

Today I thought I would share my layout with you. The page featured two photos that I took with my husband while waiting for our plane to go to St Maarten for our vacation. We actually love taking selfies; or rather love taking selfies. Well, it is not always easy to get someone to take a photo of us, and I wanted a photo of the two of us. So I have a lot selfies photos of the two of us. We recently also got a selfie stick (monopod); I will be using that a lot more often now.

In this layout, I used really bright colors to bring out the happiness I felt during the trip. I will enter this layout for Simon Says StampWork it Wednesday Challenge and Monday Challenge. I love challenges as it helps to trigger the spark of new creations.

As summer is approaching us, what are your favorite bright colors to use on your layouts?
