‘Noel’ Scrapbook Layout

It’s almost Christmas time – how exciting! Today I have a scrapbook layout to share with you with Sketch N Scrap layout sketch.

The sketch was designed by Mandy on Sketch N Scrap:dec-15th-sns

Here is my layout:

Noel Scrapbook Layout

The beauty of winter is quite memorable! I just scrap a single 4×6 landscape photo instead of 3 photos. I wanted my title and embellishment in silver so I made my own since I didn’t have anything silver in my stash. I diecut the title and some stars with my Cameo and heat embossed them with silver embossing powder. Then I added some silver splatters with silver metallic watercolors.

There is it a simple holiday-themed layout. Hop over Sketch N Scrap and check out what the other team members had created and hope you would join us with our challenges! Thanks for stopping by and Happy crafting!

‘The Yellow Door’ Scrapbook Layout

Hello! It’s November already. I have a scrapbook layout to share today inspired by a layout sketch. The sketch was designed by Lisa on Sketch  N Scrap.

For my layout, I flipped the sketch and was inspired by the ‘longish title’ for my photo.

"Yellow Door" long title diecut scrapbook layout

It was a photo taken at the ‘yellow door’ at the lavender farm which was a hot spot for photos. On the header, there was a lovely quote “Walk through the door, your worries behind you, your joys are ahead”. So I diecut the quote with my Cameo with different fonts. I backed it with pink striped paper and went over it with a black pen to highlight the title better.

After I layered the photo with patterned papers, I added some yellow paint splatters. I wanted to add some black since I went over the title with the black pen, so I stamped with a splatter stamp with black ink. Then I added a subtitle below the photo with different alphabet stickersand also the big yellow puffy alphabet stickers to emphasize the door. I also added some fun embellishments with adventure/travel theme from Shimelle Go Now Go collection.

I added the acetate pieces with gold staples for more fun.

A simple life – scrapbook layout

Hello! I realised I didn’t get to blog about some of the layouts I created. Sometimes I managed to share in my Instagram or Facebook. But I try.. anyways..

Today I wanted to share a layout using some diecuts and stitching inspired by a sketch on Stuck?! Sketches. It’s the September 1st 2016 sketch –

Stuck Sketches September 1st 2016

I created this fun colorful ‘mixed media layout’ – well  maybe not mixed media if you consider splatters lol

mixed media scrapbook layout - the simple life

I managed to add some stamping to the background (Heidi Swapp Script background stamp). I always feel some sense of accomplishment if I use a stamp on a layout. Really.

splatters and stamps on scrapbook layout

After the patterned papers were adhered, I machine stitched the borders for interest.  Then I diecut the wreath from Clique Kits (it was a free cutfile) and it’s so pretty! I backed the leaves with some scraps from Dear Lizzy Documentary collection that was in the olive green color. So I mixed up some olive green splatters from my acrylic inks and splatter away.  Then I found diecuts from Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills had some pretty fun diecuts and puffy stickers that matched my color scheme pretty well. I also added the puffy hearts from Shimelle collection.

I didn’t add any journaling, so I added the Tim Holtz stickers to express some of my emotions. The small talk sticker book from Tim Holtz is really fun and has a lot of sayings I want to convey in my layouts.

Scrapbooking with a big bow

Hello everyone! I cannot believe it’s the end of June. It has been a quiet month for me in terms of crafting – too much going on in life and it had been a teeny more stressful. Those aren’t fun!

But what’s fun today, is I want to share a fun layout I created :

The gift of presence (scrapping with a bow)

This layout is inspired by Sketch 488 on Scrapbook Challenges:

june 27th

The different patterned paper and stitching looks so fun so I pull out my scraps and my sewing machine. I wanted it to be more fun, so I ruff up the edges and teared it up slightly

Then I felt like adding in some ink smooshing in my layout. I haven’t done that in some time and fits in my fun theme.

The gift of presence (scrapping with a bow)

I picked the Aqua color of my gelato and rub it onto some packaging and spritz some water onto it. The color turned out too light so I added another darker color (Snow Cone) and mixed it in. Then added some leftover splatters. The gift of presence (scrapping with a bow)

Here is my layout again:

The gift of presence (scrapping with a bow)

I scrapped these photos from my wedding. I was just overwhelmed with the love – friends and family really took the time to travel and made my day extra special. So to me, it was truly the gift of presence.

I added the bow because it’s so cute and pretty. I wanted it to be the focal embellishment so I added silver sequins to the centre.   I cut it with my Cameo.  I also cut my title with my Cameo from my own fonts. I chose the blue and silver because it’s my wedding colors. I did add two more blue strips just to balance it out and added more stitching. Then I finished it with some silver hearts.

Some close ups:

I really did like how it turned out. And I showed it to my husband, he said, “Oh that’s nice” (like he ALWAYS say) , “but oh, how come you got some ink smudges on it” – and it was funny because I told it was intentional and it was meant for added interest. I think he didn’t get it. But that added even more fun to my layout 🙂

Super bling card – Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #75

Hello everyone! Today I have a card to share – I made this super bling card to welcome summer! 🙂

Hello Summer Card

I am sure by now, you know that I don’t throw away the negatives of my diecuts. I save them and usually make something out of it. So I took the negative and used it to make a background and main focal point of my card.

For my card, I adhered all sorts of bright colorful gems stickers and sequins in the space of the flourish line after the “r” in summer. (not sure what to call that space lol) I chose pink and purple for my card. I am trying to dig into my purple stash.

Supplies: Cardstock: Recollections     Patterned Paper: Dear Lizzy Serendipty      Cutfile: Kerri Bradford Studio      Bling: Sequins (fabric store), Gems (Dollarama)

I added foam dots behind the whole piece of the negative panel. Check out the dimension! This card is almost like a faux shaker card. I am sure some of you are uncomfortable with the amount of bling on this card – but I thought it was fun and cute. One should never be afraid to bling it up! Bling overload to welcome the fun in the summer! :p

My card was inspired by this lovely sketch designed by Mandy on Sketch N Scrap:

June 5th Card #75.jpg

I was inspired by the “Large Sentiment” and hence created my card with the whole background piece as the sentiment.

Love-themed cards

Hello everyone! On Scrapbook Challenges – we have the May Pattern Challenge up today. Just use grid paper anywhere on a project – so I decided to make a card.

XOXO love card

I used the grid paper as a background and diecut the XOXO and Love from the free Love Rules cut files from TheCutShoppe. I did layered it with cardstock for extra dimension. I did some machine stitching across the XOXOX for interest.

Here are some close up pics:

XOXO love cardXOXO love card

Supplies: Cardstock: American Crafts Textured white, Recollections black, red     Patterned Paper: WRMK Love Notes, Celebrate It gold glittered      Tool:  Martha Stewart Confetti Heart Punch

As I was cutting up the diecuts, I had extras so I made another card. Love-themed cards are quite versatile and not necessarily only for Valentine’s day. It is always nice to send a card to family or friends to say hello!

I used the same cutfiles with the same techniques. I stitched the LOVELOVELOVE in the middle for texture and interest.

Sketch N Scrap #74 – Purple Shaker Card

Hello my crafty friends! Today I have a shaker card to share with you – and it’s purple!

Purple Shaker card

Purple seems like a hard color to craft with for me, I am not sure why – but I am glad it turned out well 🙂

This card is inspired by card sketch on Sketch N Scrap designed by Lisa:

For my card, on a white cardstock, I added texture paste with a stencil for extra interest leaving the centre of the white cardstock empty for my sentiment. I stamped and heat embossed my sentiment for my friend reminding her that ” She IS Beautiful!” Then I made my shaker pocket with my FUSE tool. I just use recycled old packaging for my pocket.  I diecut a circle ring with stars border highlighting the shaker pocket. The circle ring I decided to embossed it with a swirly embossing folder for the added texture.

I also want to share that I recently bought a new texture paste jar to try out -“Tri-Art” brand by a Canadian company which is cheaper than other professional artist brand quality. I actually really like it, it’s so smooth and white.  It is really good quality.

I just love the dimension of this shaker card!

Thank you cards using embossing techniques

Hello my crafty friends! I want to share some cards with you today using a technique I haven’t use in a long time!

Today’s challenge on Scrapbook Challenges is to create a Thank You card using any of the three layout sketches.

Card Recycle It May 18th

Such a fun challenge! I chose the middle sketch, the one with the sunburst/rays as my inspiration and created my card.

Thank you card

How I made my card:

  1. For my background: I took an embossing folder (Sizzix Tim Holtz Rays), and rub on Distress Inks ( Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Abandoned Coral and Festive Berries) on the debossed side of the embossing folder. I spritzed 2 spritzes of water and put my cardstock on it and closed the embossing folder and ran it through my Cuttlebug.
  2. After it’s dry, the embossed “rays” are slightly white, and I blended the same distress inks lightly. Then I diecut it with my largest stitched rectangles (Simon Says Stamp)
  3. I used my Cameo and diecut “Thank you”. I layered it 4 times so that it has that dimensional look. I adhered it in the middle of the right corner.
  4. Then I took my all time favourite Thanks stamp set (Hero Arts Stamp & Cut) and actually stamped all the sentiments with Versamark onto black cardstock and heat-embossed them with white embossing powder. Then I cut them into little strips like black label stickers.
  5. I adhered each label onto the rays like a sunburst effect. I adhered the panel onto black card base. Then I spritzed DIY perfect pearl mist on the card for extra shimmer effect!

Thank you card

It was a lot of fun so I made similar ones.

Thank you cardFor this card, I think I spritzed more water so the colors are more saturated.

Then I decided make another one for a friend – which is more like a ‘hello’/encouragement card.Live Simply CardLive Simply Card

For this card, I use Wilna Furstenberg free cutfile and Tim Holtz small talks stickers. Pretty fun!

Scrapping with pinks & die-cutting with my Cameo-( use the negatives as well!)

Hello everyone! Can one really be addicted to die-cutting? Well I am! I love die-cutting ; whether it’s manual die-cutting with my Cuttlebug or with my Cameo! I can just go on and on and have all these diecuts lying around; most of the times I die-cuting just for fun!

Honestly, I am super loving my Cameo – and I have to thank all those kind people who made tutorials on how to use the Cameo because I learn new things all the time and it works wonderfully! The noisy Cameo cutting is music to my ears!

Anyways, let me get to my scrapbook layout – I won several sheets of Bazzill bling cardstock on their Instagram giveaway a while back. They were the prettiest cardstock; it’s so shimmery, so pretty and super thick!

I took my favorite color – PINK – and I went ahead and diecut with it with my Cameo without really knowing what to do with it. I diecut the pretty flower background; a free cut file from Hip Kit Club (March Download -designed by Ashley Horton) They have free cut files every month available for non-kit subscribers.

I created this layout with the die-cut flowers background. I cut the flowers apart instead of using the full sheet. I wished you could see the beautiful shimmer from the cardstock, but it was hard to capture on photograph.

just Dance away Scrapbook layout

I created my title with my own fonts with my Cameo also; I am loving that since I can make up whatever title I want without running out of stickers. I cut them with cardstock first, usually 3 times and layered them up to get a more raised effect like the dimension of chipboard stickers. Then I cut the patterned paper I like as the top layer.

I splattered the page with some DIY gelatos splatters and added the paper layers for my photo. I just added a few small bits of embellishment where the flowers were.

Then I had the “negative” of the cardstock – the leftover pink frame after I diecut the flowers background. I couldn’t throw it away or cut up for scraps because it’s PINK and so shiny. I cut another flower background out of white cardstock and made another layout with it. See – nothing gets to waste; I got another pretty layout out of it!

Bouquet Toss Scrapbook Layout with Flower Cutfile from hipkit

I love this layout a lot- I think it’s important to love what you make- makes one happy! I backed the negative diecut, the “frame” with pink vellum and adhered a patterned paper with words.  I did cut my white flowers background a little bit smaller. I put my photo in the centre of the layout and embellished around it with some diecut hearts and stickers.  I used the same diecut technique with my title again.

This is definitely one of my favorite layouts – and to think the starting point of this layout was because I didn’t want to throw away the negative diecut of the pink cardstock.

Hope you will try creating layouts with using negatives of die cut as a starting point!:) Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

Using washi tape on my Scrapbook Layout

Hello my crafty friends! Today I have a layout to share – inspired by a sketch on Scrapbook Challenges.

I decided to use washi tape instead of patterned paper since I couldn’t fine the right colors of patterned paper in my stash. So I used my 2 inch washi tape roll as the background of my layout.

Nature Hike Scrapbook Challenges Scrapbook Layout

This is the brilliant sketch (Sketch 483) on Scrapbook Challenges:

Sketch 483 May 16th

I made some yellow splatters across the left side of the layout. Then I arranged my photos on the washi tape mat. My photos are about 2″ x 2.5″ since I wanted a more rectangular look rather than square. Since this is nature theme, I diecut some leaves with my Cameo as embellishments and adhered them as though the leaves are floating around the page. I diecut them out of white core green cardstock so I embossed them with checkered board embossing folders for some squared textured on the leaves.
