“Love” Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout

Hello everyone! Sketch N Scrap 5th Birthday Bash Crop is happening this month, so crop with us all month long on the blog.  Today I want to share a layout with you that is inspired with the first exclusive birthday bash sketch layout designed by Heather on Sketch N Scrap.

May2nd SNS birthday 1

I created a mixed media wedding layout. I really just scrapbook for fun and enjoying different techniques as I create. The background was inspired by videos I saw on youtube and it was really fun.

Love (with altenew stamps) Wedding Scrapbook Layout

I first created the background with gesso and thread. The thread will be adhered with the gesso so there is no glue needed. Then I dripped some Magenta Liquitex ink  after it  dried. Then I sprayed some DIY yellow mist on it as well. I just love the texture and the effect of the background.

Mixed media background

Then I diecut the wreath which was a free cutfile from Paper Issues with a white cardstock. I inked it lightly with Antique Linen distress ink for a subtle look. Then I went on a stamping and fussy cutting frenzy with the layering stamps from Altenew. (Painted Butterflies and Vintage Flowers) After I was done doing that, I adhered them along the wreath and added my photo and title and my stickers.

The process of this layout was actually very gratifying – ink dripping and mist spraying, the stamping and fussy cutting; lol it did take forever with the stamping and fussy cutting but that’s what a crafter does with her time right!

I scrapbook the photo of our wedding rings, and I love the intertwined thread behind it. It’s like our lives are joined/twisted together lol (don’t mind my abstract/logical thinking behind the layout)

Stamping and scrapbooking

Hello and Happy Easter! Today I have another scrapbook layout to share with you, it’s a wedding layout. I used a floral layering stamp set to create flowers on this layout; it’s a lot fun and the effect was pretty cool.

Stamping and scrapbooking

My layout was inspired by Altenew Sketch Challenge #1 and its color scheme.

Altenew-2017-March-Sketch-Challenge-Ashley

I used Altenew Majestic Bloom stamp and die set to create the flowers and leaves. I love how layering stamps makes the image so realistic and pretty. For the leaves, I only used two of the layers and skipped the solid leaf stamp.

For the flowers, I stamped with Altenew inks – Frosty Pink, Cotton Candy, Coral Berry and the outline image with Ruby Red. I started stamping with the solid image first then the layers and stamped the outline stamp last because I wanted the flowers to have more definition. For the leaves, I stamped with Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades.

Then I die cut all the flowers and leaves and adhered them like the arrangement of the circles in the sketch. I added two doilies as the starting point of my layout. I added some gold thread behind the flowers and gold strip to frame the layout for extra interest and texture. I used some sentiments from the Label Love stamp set for my title and added some Tim Holtz word stickers as well. Then I finished off with some gold sequins. I love the elegance of the gold.

This was really a fun layout to make. I love how stamps can be used to make the focal point or embellishments for a project. That’s it for today! Thanks for stopping and Happy crafting!

Scrapbooking with a big bow

Hello everyone! I cannot believe it’s the end of June. It has been a quiet month for me in terms of crafting – too much going on in life and it had been a teeny more stressful. Those aren’t fun!

But what’s fun today, is I want to share a fun layout I created :

The gift of presence (scrapping with a bow)

This layout is inspired by Sketch 488 on Scrapbook Challenges:

june 27th

The different patterned paper and stitching looks so fun so I pull out my scraps and my sewing machine. I wanted it to be more fun, so I ruff up the edges and teared it up slightly

Then I felt like adding in some ink smooshing in my layout. I haven’t done that in some time and fits in my fun theme.

The gift of presence (scrapping with a bow)

I picked the Aqua color of my gelato and rub it onto some packaging and spritz some water onto it. The color turned out too light so I added another darker color (Snow Cone) and mixed it in. Then added some leftover splatters. The gift of presence (scrapping with a bow)

Here is my layout again:

The gift of presence (scrapping with a bow)

I scrapped these photos from my wedding. I was just overwhelmed with the love – friends and family really took the time to travel and made my day extra special. So to me, it was truly the gift of presence.

I added the bow because it’s so cute and pretty. I wanted it to be the focal embellishment so I added silver sequins to the centre.   I cut it with my Cameo.  I also cut my title with my Cameo from my own fonts. I chose the blue and silver because it’s my wedding colors. I did add two more blue strips just to balance it out and added more stitching. Then I finished it with some silver hearts.

Some close ups:

I really did like how it turned out. And I showed it to my husband, he said, “Oh that’s nice” (like he ALWAYS say) , “but oh, how come you got some ink smudges on it” – and it was funny because I told it was intentional and it was meant for added interest. I think he didn’t get it. But that added even more fun to my layout 🙂

Scrapping with pinks & die-cutting with my Cameo-( use the negatives as well!)

Hello everyone! Can one really be addicted to die-cutting? Well I am! I love die-cutting ; whether it’s manual die-cutting with my Cuttlebug or with my Cameo! I can just go on and on and have all these diecuts lying around; most of the times I die-cuting just for fun!

Honestly, I am super loving my Cameo – and I have to thank all those kind people who made tutorials on how to use the Cameo because I learn new things all the time and it works wonderfully! The noisy Cameo cutting is music to my ears!

Anyways, let me get to my scrapbook layout – I won several sheets of Bazzill bling cardstock on their Instagram giveaway a while back. They were the prettiest cardstock; it’s so shimmery, so pretty and super thick!

I took my favorite color – PINK – and I went ahead and diecut with it with my Cameo without really knowing what to do with it. I diecut the pretty flower background; a free cut file from Hip Kit Club (March Download -designed by Ashley Horton) They have free cut files every month available for non-kit subscribers.

I created this layout with the die-cut flowers background. I cut the flowers apart instead of using the full sheet. I wished you could see the beautiful shimmer from the cardstock, but it was hard to capture on photograph.

just Dance away Scrapbook layout

I created my title with my own fonts with my Cameo also; I am loving that since I can make up whatever title I want without running out of stickers. I cut them with cardstock first, usually 3 times and layered them up to get a more raised effect like the dimension of chipboard stickers. Then I cut the patterned paper I like as the top layer.

I splattered the page with some DIY gelatos splatters and added the paper layers for my photo. I just added a few small bits of embellishment where the flowers were.

Then I had the “negative” of the cardstock – the leftover pink frame after I diecut the flowers background. I couldn’t throw it away or cut up for scraps because it’s PINK and so shiny. I cut another flower background out of white cardstock and made another layout with it. See – nothing gets to waste; I got another pretty layout out of it!

Bouquet Toss Scrapbook Layout with Flower Cutfile from hipkit

I love this layout a lot- I think it’s important to love what you make- makes one happy! I backed the negative diecut, the “frame” with pink vellum and adhered a patterned paper with words.  I did cut my white flowers background a little bit smaller. I put my photo in the centre of the layout and embellished around it with some diecut hearts and stickers.  I used the same diecut technique with my title again.

This is definitely one of my favorite layouts – and to think the starting point of this layout was because I didn’t want to throw away the negative diecut of the pink cardstock.

Hope you will try creating layouts with using negatives of die cut as a starting point!:) Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

I actually made this layout as part of a second page layout. Two weeks ago I made a layout and decided this sketch is perfect as the coordinating second page. Sometimes it is a fun challenge to create coordinating layouts with different sketches. It’s the first time I tried this and it was a pleasant surprise it worked so well with a layout I previously made. I think it turned out pretty cool!

‘Bubbles’ Wedding Scrapbook Layout

Hello everyone! Today I have another wedding scrapbook layout to share. It’s a very simple layout and absolutely quick to put together.

The layout is inspired by a sketch on Scrapbook Challenges.

Sketch 479 April 18

My layout-

Supplies: Cardstock: American Crafts Textured   Patterned Paper: Dear Lizzy Serendipity, Tab- Illustrated Faith   Washi Tape: Recollections   Stickers: American Crafts Black Chalkboard     Tool: EK Success Corner Adorner – Interlaced    Paint: DecoArt Bright Yellow, Tutti Frutti Pink

Bubbles Wedding Scrapbook layout

I considered myself the minimalist when I scrapbook – but when I made this layout I really did not use much of my supplies. I used my 2″ wide washi tape on a scrapbook layout instead of patterned paper. Because the washi tape is see through, and I wanted more colors in the background so I painted diagonal lines with acrylic paint first before putting down the washi tape. Then I layered some stars I had leftover from another project with washi tape as well. I do not have any photo corners so I made a photo mat with photo corners with a punch.

It does have a lot of white space than my usual layouts but I feel it’s needed because of the bright colors. I am pretty contented with how it turned out.  It was definitely one of the fastest layout I have ever made since I am a slow scrapper. Thankfully I have the sketch to help me out! 🙂

I hope you will give this sketch a try and hop on over to Scrapbook Challenges for more inspiration! Thanks for stopping by and Happy crafting!

I created another wedding layout-

I love that I can use my watercolors to add some background color to my white cardstock. Even if I don’t have the matching color, I can always mix it out. I fussy cut the mason jars from the patterned paper as part of my embellishments. The top camera wood veneer I heat-embossed it to change the color and painted the ampersand wood veneer with pink paint. For some reason, I like my wood veneers colored lol

I hope you will check out Lynn’s blog and there are more inspiration on Scrapbook Challenges. Thanks for stopping by and Happy crafting!

Sketch N Scrap Throwback Thursday #3

Hello everyone – It’s Throwback Thursday Layout Sketch today on the Sketch N Scrap blog.

For today’s sketch, I chose this sketch from 2014 designed by Lisa.

march 17 Throwback thursday Sketch N Scrap

I saw the polka dots with the splatters and I had inspiration for my layout so I created a mixed media wedding layout.

Crushing - Smile Gold Wedding layout

For the wedding photoshoot, I brought this large frame as prop. It was pretty fun with us taking pictures with this large frame. My wedding party love making faces and fun poses with the frame.

This layout is a little bit overloaded with the gold and so much fun to make. But I love all the gold with the pinks. I started with Stratmore mixed media paper 11’x11′. Then I used a polka dot stencil and added some homemade texture paste. Then I misted some pink mist I DIYed out of acrylic paint with a hearts stencil. I also brushed some gold glitter paint on the layout randomly as well. I feel it’s less messy than real glitter. I adhered the photos and added some gold flower washi tape as if it was held on by the tape. I made the tab effect on the photo mat with my envelope punch board. Finally, I angled my mixed media paper before adhering it to my gold background paper for some added interest.

Best ever Wedding Scrapbook Layout

Hello everyone! It’s Friday- what are you up to this weekednd?

Today I am sharing a layout inspired by Flashback Friday Sketch on Scrapbook Challenges.

fbf march 11

I created a wedding layout –

Wedding Scrapbook Layout

For our photoshoot, I brought these large fun glasses and bubble wands as props. I took the blues and my husband took the pinks. These bubble wands are super fun – they create such large bubbles. Pretty cool I would say!

From the sketch, I die cut these rings as my banner and strung them on embroidery floss. I adhered the floss with gold staples. I fussy -cut the mason jar and the ‘best ever’ circle from the Dear Lizzy Serendipity patterned paper pad and it serves as my title and embellishment as well. I matted the photo on white copy paper and added some interest with border punch on the top.
